James obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration with concentration in Trust Management from Campbell University in May, 1986. Prior to attending law school, James was a Personal Banker and Assistant Branch Manager with Wachovia Bank. He then obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 1990 from Samford University, Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama. After working with another law firm for approximately two years, James started his own law firm in 1993, representing clients in almost every county of North Carolina. Vann Attorneys currently has attorneys who handle creditors’ rights, unmanned aircraft systems, construction litigation, contract law, business planning, business succession, estate planning, business formation, non-profit association work and civil litigation matters. James’ law practice concentrates on creditors’ rights, unmanned aircraft systems, business law and planning and succession, civil commercial litigation, estate planning and business succession planning. Through his family business, James learned at an early age the value of sound business judgment and values. When representing his clients, James strives to consider business and economic issues, as well as the legal issues.


Meet James Vann

James is an active member in church serving and having served in various roles of leadership. He also is an active participant and past Chair of the “We Build People” campaign for the Alexander Family YMCA in Raleigh. The “We Build People” campaign raises money to assist children and families with a variety of needs by providing positive influences, mentors, education, camp experiences, etc for the families. James also enjoying running, bicycling and spending time with his beautiful wife and precious son and daughter!
