For 2026, James R. Vann and J.D. Hensarling have been selected to the Super Lawyers list. Ian S. Richardson, Caitlin S. Truelove, and Anna Rodriguez have been named to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.

Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters rating service, recognizes attorneys through a rigorous, multi-phase selection process that includes peer nominations, independent research, and evaluations by attorneys in each practice area. Only the top 5% of attorneys in North Carolina are selected as Super Lawyers, and no more than 2.5% are named to the Rising Stars list.

2026 Super Lawyers Honorees

James R. Vann – Super Lawyers

James is the founding partner of Vann Attorneys. His practice focuses on business law, commercial creditors’ rights, construction law, civil litigation, estate planning, contracts, and employment-related matters. For more than three decades, James has advised businesses and individuals across North Carolina on complex disputes, collections, risk management, and long-term planning. His approach is rooted in preparation, practical judgment, and a deep understanding of how legal decisions affect business operations.

J.D. Hensarling – Super Lawyers

J.D. represents families in daycare-related injury and abuse cases and maintains an active mediation practice, helping businesses and individuals resolve disputes efficiently and effectively. He also handles business litigation matters, including shareholder and partnership disputes, fraud, Business Court cases, and employment-related claims. In addition to his practice, J.D. serves as an Adjunct Professor at Campbell Law School, teaching Pretrial Litigation and mentoring future attorneys in North Carolina.

2026 Rising Stars Honorees

Ian S. Richardson – Rising Stars

Ian represents clients in personal injury matters, including motor vehicle accidents and child sex abuse cases, as well as complex business disputes in Superior Court and Business Court. He works closely with clients navigating difficult and often personal legal challenges, providing steady guidance and focused advocacy throughout the litigation process.

Caitlin S. Truelove – Rising Stars

Caitlin’s practice centers on business and civil litigation and construction law. She represents commercial subcontractors, residential subcontractors, and contractors across North Carolina in contract disputes, compliance matters, and risk management issues. Her selection reflects her growing reputation for thorough preparation and disciplined execution on behalf of her clients.

Anna Rodriguez – Rising Stars

Anna represents clients in civil litigation matters with an emphasis on business-related disputes. She is known within the firm for her attention to detail, strategic thinking, and commitment to understanding each client’s goals before charting a path forward. Her Rising Stars recognition highlights both her professional achievement and the respect she has earned early in her career.
